A new project to renovate the former home of designer Max Clendinning, a richly layered, characterful house filled with playful postmodern details. The work will be a careful balance of restoration and reinterpretation, engaging with what’s already there and finding ways for new elements to sit comfortably alongside Max’s distinctive designs.
A new planning application submitted for a loft extension in a South London conservation area. Adding an extra bedroom to a one bed flat. With limited headroom, a new mezzanine floor creates a new kitchen dining room overlooking the trees and the trains whilst bring light and air into a dark north facing living room.
The West London loft extension is nearing completion. The new oak-framed windows are now installed, bringing warmth and weight to the space and framing views into the surrounding trees. The project has been a careful process of working within the existing roof structure, using simple carpentry and solid materials to create a calm, functional space with a few carefully detailed oak elements.
Design work is underway for a new family home in Jamaica. The project explores passive cooling strategies and a close relationship with the surrounding garden. A long timber veranda provides shade and outdoor living space, while the solid body of the house helps regulate temperature and draw in cool air from the garden.
A recent collaboration with a young family on the design of their ambitious DIY extension. The layout touches the existing building lightly, celebrating the materials and textures already present. A simple wraparound timber structure keeps the build lightweight, low impact, and achievable with minimal intervention.
